While attending the three week course, each student will have the possibility to earn two nationally recognized appliance repair certifications.

ioAST is working to improve the quality of appliance repair and service through testing and certification. Appliance Service Fundamentals (ASF) is a new certification created in collaboration by the instruction staff at Fred’s Appliance Academy. Those who take the ASF exam will be measured on their overall ability to handle the job of servicing major home appliances. By passing the exam, you’re proving that you have the knowledge, ability and the skills to do the job right.

Don’t worry, we’ll teach you everything you need to know. Once you pick up your ioAST certification, you’ll be ready to find work as a professional appliance service technician with a skill set that’s always in demand.

EPA regulations (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F) under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act require that technicians who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of equipment that could release ozone depleting refrigerants into the atmosphere must be certified. Starting on January 1, 2018, this requirement will also apply to appliances containing most substitute refrigerants, including HFCs.

Technicians are required to pass an EPA-approved test to earn Section 608 Technician Certification. The tests are specific to the type of equipment the technician seeks to work on. The 608 Type 1 test we register you for is an online, open-book test. Section 608 Technician Certification credentials do not expire.

Just like with ioAST, the EPA certification will give you an extra edge when starting your career in appliance service.
